The artwork for Krista Hartman’s new album, Collage, highlights the vibe over the past few years: fragmented moments, bright and dull that somehow all fit together into an abstract puzzle.

The unconscious and conscious aspects of an honest songwriting moment are equally honoured in Collage. The songs included are juxtaposed treasures. Some songs are hopeful tales, others are dark. A few songs are sparsely arranged; or live off the floor, while others are fully produced. The songs examine the shadow self and higher self. Yet, they all fit together exploring mysteries that make life worth living.

Collage examines the power of emotional freedom and celebrates yin and yang forces of expression without judgment. The setting for the album changed for each song, a montage creation process similar to ripping pages from a magazine to build a vision.

Hartman’s experimental sound crosses several genres. Collage was created with the help of countless collaborators and in the end, pieced together by Krista Hartman and Jordon Zadorozny (Blinker the Star). Krista Hartman has created music since 2005 and continues to let the music guide the way.
